AE EM40 High Current/Upgraded Control Module

The AE EM40 is designed to replace the original Sargent unit. The unit acts as the vehicle interface for Sargent systems. The original EM40 can have issues with connectors burning out, most frequently whilst driving with the fridge on 12V when the vehicle battery current is high.

****AutoTrail Recall Update****

We have been advised that there is now a letter from AutoTrail about recalling the EM40. However, customers are telling us that this is just a 'check' to see if the connectors are burned and not a guaranteed replacement. Additionally, many customers have been told that their Autotrail is NOT affected (identified by the VIN) even though they have an EM40 fitted!!!! Despite some already having it burn out! People we speak to still want to fit the AE EM40 due to its high current design because they just want the peace of mind!

NOTE: As advised in the Autotrail data to dealers, the original EM40 and EM41 are NOT suitable for Lithium batteries or where 2 leisure batteries are fitted. HOWEVER, the Apuljack replacement IS suitable for both these set ups due to the huge rating of the connectors.

The Apuljack replacement PCB has improved, high current, tracking and connectors. The original connectors that burn out are rated at 20A per pin - our new WAGO^TM connectors are rated at a huge 76A!.

It has been designed to make it easy for users to fit, without the need to call a technician for fitting assistance. Those with PCBs and wiring harnesses that have burned out may simply cut the damaged wiring off and fit to the AE EM40. Simply strip the wire, pull the lever down, insert the wire and release the lever. Additional wiring harnesses, crimp tools etc are NOT necessary to fit this product.

AE EM40 for a 2018 AT V-Line

My original Sargent EM40 was showing signs of overheated connectors on the green connector (FRIDGE D+). I have just swapped it out for one of these uprated boards from Apuljack and it was very straightforward. The WAGO connectors used in place of the original connectors look far more substantial. The only issue I had was access in a tight space, so I extended all the wires to these WAGO connectors and used WAGO 221 inline connectors to join the wires. Very pleased with the result

AE EM40 Install

This is not a complex install. Once any leads/plugs have been renewed as necessary then just follow the instructions supplied. All the wiring is labelled clearly on the board too. The only issue most will come across is the limited work space but this is not the fault of this replacement part. As an aside because the wires and plugs attach in different places I had to alter the orientation of the fuse box by 90 degrees to stop the loom from chaffing.
